NWAC Decathlon 2024

[Eugene, Oregon] The longest week of the Sasquatch track season turned out to be one of epic proportions. The men’s track and field team competed at the Oregon State High Performance meet April 26 - 27, including all four of the school’s decathletes. However, the main event for these particular student athletes began on Monday April 29th with the first five events of the two-day NWAC Decathlon Championships at Lane Community College.

The decathlon crew consisted of Cameron Galbreath, David Stingle, Stephen Pittman and Jacob Goude. A total of twenty-five personal bests out of forty events was just the beginning for this group. Three out of four recorded season and lifetime best total scores.

Event winners included Jacob Goude in the 400m running 52.42, Stephen Pittman in a super close 1500m over Goude running 4:42.64 to 4:42.74, and David Stingle in the javelin throw tossing 167’. 23”.

In an extremely rare event both Pittman and Goude scored exactly the same number of total points, sharing the fourth and fifth place positions with 5490 points.

Pittman picked up the seventh-place spot with a score of 5193, while Galbreath was ninth with 4766.

The Sasquatch earned a total of eleven team points in this event, which will be very valuable and roll over into the overall NWAC Championship meet on May 20-21 held at Mt Hood Community College.
