McEachern serving as Interim President; Mohr assumes role as Interim VP of Student Affairs
Spokane Colleges Chancellor Kevin Brockbank announced interim leadership for Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) as the institution begins the year-long process of replacing outgoing President Dr. Kimberly Messina, who left for City College of San Francisco.
SFCC Vice President of Student Affairs Patrick McEachern began serving as Interim President, effective July 1. McEachern joined Spokane Colleges as an instructional designer in 2014 and has served in several leadership roles at the college including Associate Provost.
By serving as interim president, McEachern is excluded from consideration for the permanent position.
Spokane Colleges leadership has emphasized continuity during the transition.
“My primary focus as we begin this transition is to ensure stability of the work and vision already existing at SFCC and make sure that we put people in place who will help all of Spokane Colleges move forward together,” Brockbank said.
McEachern’s VP role is being filled on an interim basis by Dr. Jim Mohr, who brings 25 years of experience in Student Affairs. Mohr holds a Ph.D. in leadership studies from Gonzaga University.
Mohr began his career as a Residence Director in 1998 at Marymount Manhattan College and advanced through a range of leadership roles at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Eastern Washington University, Institute for Extended Learning, and Olympic College. He also served as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane for six years. In addition to his extensive background in Student Affairs, Jim has held executive leadership positions in Institutional Research, Grants and Sponsored Research, and his most recent position as Associate Chief of Culture and Talent Development at Spokane Colleges.
“Throughout his career, Jim has focused on creating inclusive, person-centered environments that support academic and professional success, personal growth, and community engagement,” Brockbank said. “Jim brings with him a collaborative approach to leadership that is rooted in the belief that students and employees thrive when institutions create a sense of belonging, purpose, and possibility.”
