Kelly Fukai Joins Spokane Colleges Board of Trustees

Northwest Gas Association CEO Fills Vacancy, Offers Multi-Industry Perspective

Spokane Colleges today announced Northwest Gas Association CEO Kelly Fukai will join the Spokane Colleges Board of Trustees for a term extending through 2029.


Fukai brings to the role more than 25 years of experience developing collaborative solutions across industry, government, academia, business, and communities. In her role with the Northwest Gas Association, Fukai leads strategic education and advocacy efforts related to the region’s energy infrastructure.

Fukai will fill a position on the Board of Trustees vacant since former Providence executive Mike Wilson’s term ended September 2024.

“Kelly is a great addition to the Board of Trustees,” said Todd Woodard, Board of Trustees Chair. “In addition to being an SFCC alum, Kelly’s extensive and diverse work experience will bring a heightened awareness and understanding of workforce needs. She has also built strong working relationships with many elected officials which will bring added credibility and respect to our advocacy work on behalf of Spokane Colleges. As a Board, we’ll find another gear with Kelly involved!”

Fukai hold an associate degree Spokane Falls Community College. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration and management from Gonzaga University.
Fukai’s background includes roles in economic development, public affairs, and strategic planning, as well as leadership positions at Avista Utilities, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Spokane International Airport, and the Washington Technology Industry Association. She also serves on several state and local boards, including the Washington State Transportation Commission and the WSU Spokane Advisory Board. These responsibilities have involved coordinating with industry, government, and education partners, experience she will bring to her work with the Board of Trustees.
