Spokane Colleges today announced it has received a $1,867,972 grant from the federal Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program to help student parents access reliable, high-quality childcare while pursuing their college education. The four-year award runs from September 30, 2026, through September 29, 2030, and supports student parents who are eligible for federal Pell Grants.
“Childcare can be a significant barrier to continuing and completing college,” said Spokane Colleges District Director of Head Start Bobbi Woodral. “This funding helps parents attend classes and focus on their studies while knowing their children are safe, cared for, and learning.”
Only 40 applications were funded nationally, and Spokane Colleges was the only college in Washington state to receive an award.
This investment advances Spokane Colleges’ educational mission by supporting two generations at once—helping children build a strong foundation for learning while their parents work toward college completion, career opportunities, and greater family stability.
