Rogers High School seniors get ready for futures at community college

[SPOKANE, Wash.] Spirits were high at Rogers High School on Friday when seniors celebrated their commitment to higher education in front of family, friends and classmates at signing day.

Students gathered to share which schools will become the next step in their educational journeys.

Students proudly announced their commitment to Spokane Community College, Spokane Falls Community Colleges and other higher education institutions.

RHS senior Taylor Christensen has been in drama for the last four years as an assistant director, drama board member and a teacher’s assistant for first-year drama classes. Now she’s headed to the SFCC drama program.

After seeing the Spartan Theatre set, she knew that’s where she needed to be.

“The campus was beautiful, there are great resources, and the people were awesome. I wanted to give it a shot,” she said. “I’m excited to gain more experience than I already have and I’m ready to meet new people.”

Michael Gunn is a graduating senior getting ready to become a registered nurse through SCC’s nursing program.

Gunn’s parents attended SFCC, but he was still intimidated by the thought of what life would look like after graduating from high school.

“I didn’t know what my plan or pathway was and then I met with Mrs. Gwen and we went to the job fair,” Gunn said. “I realized I wanted to be a nurse because I love helping my family and over half of my family is in healthcare already. I’m happy that I’m going to be prepared for my future.”

Community Colleges of Spokane are here to help our community take the next step towards the futures they want. Find out what programs are here for you.
