[Spokane, Wash.] Washington Governor Jay Inslee appointed Spokane leader Anna Franklin to the Community Colleges of Spokane’s Board of Trustees. Her term begins immediately and continues until September 30, 2028.
In appointing Franklin, Inslee asked her to serve on the board in a way that helps achieve his goals to grow Washington’s economy, strengthen our schools, and promote a culture of performance and efficiency in state government.
“Joining the Community Colleges of Spokane Board of Trustees is more than just a commitment; it’s a chance to mold the future of education, empower students, and ensure that every voice, story, and perspective isn’t just recognized but also celebrated in our pursuit of knowledge and excellence,” Franklin said. “It’s a privilege to be part of a dedicated team working to cultivate a brighter and more inclusive future for our communities.”
Franklin works as the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer for Providence Eastern Washington and Montana. Her career in healthcare spans more than 30 years including serving as the Director of Clinical Effectiveness for Providence. Franklin has earned recognition for her contributions to the field of healthcare. Her work involves researching, understanding, explaining, and working to address the inequities in healthcare. She has a deep understanding of how social and political factors impact people’s overall health.
“I am excited and honored that Anna will be joining our board,” said CCS Chancellor Kevin Brockbank. “She is a proven leader in our community and her focus on understanding and addressing the inequities in our systems will be extremely valuable for our district.”
Franklin earned an MBA from West Texas A&M University, and a bachelor’s from Eastern Washington University in Urban and Regional Planning. Her credentials as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Master Change Facilitator, and a Harvard Business School of Executive Education certificate further enhance her expertise. She serves on the Washington State Women’s Commission, YWCA Spokane Board of Directors, Spectrum Board of Directors, Take Up the Cause Board of Directors, Spokane Public Schools Diversity Advisory Council, and the Empire Health Foundation Board of Directors.
CCS provides education and services in a six-county region of Eastern Washington, operates Spokane Falls Community College and Spokane Community College and is the largest provider of Head Start and Early Childhood Education in the region. Each year, nearly 30,000 people – from infants to senior citizens – are provided educational services by CCS.
