Spokane’s two community colleges are now Amazon Career Choice education and training gateways for Amazon employees.
Today Amazon announced new college partnerships for their robust employee education benefit, naming both Spokane Community College (SCC) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) as new education providers.
“Our two colleges are the largest provider of quality educational options for working adults in our region,” said SCC President Kevin Brockbank. “We know how to meet the needs of people who are balancing work and education.”
Amazon’s popular Career Choice program funds tuition for its employees, including those who have only been with the company for three months. The program provides funding for associates and bachelor’s degrees, as well as career technical programs --- all of which are offered at SCC and SFCC with new enrollment opportunities every quarter.
In addition to offering in-person classes, SCC and SFCC also have robust online courses and full online degree paths that provide flexible education options for working adults. Their online program has been highly regarded for more than a decade with instructors who are skilled and experienced in providing quality education online, in person and a mix of the two.
“Amazon has become a major employer in the Spokane region and the Career Choice benefit allows their employees to increase their skills and education without going into debt or paying for tuition up-front,” said SFCC President Kimberlee Messina.
As part of the partnership, SCC and SFCC enrollment and admissions offices are trained and ready to help Amazon employees enroll quickly and easily. Spring quarter begins April 4 and new students are welcome to apply now for a spring start or can contact the colleges about beginning during the summer or fall quarters.
“We are rolling out the welcome mat for Amazon Career Choice students,” Brockbank said.
