Gov. Jay Inslee appointed the Spokane International Airport’s Director of Marketing and Public Affairs Todd Woodard to serve on the Community Colleges of Spokane’s Board of Trustees through September 2025.
Woodard has been actively involved with CCS since 2015, when he joined the CCS Foundation to help promote scholarships and support for CCS and its thousands of students. He is the immediate past president of the Foundation and has also been a steadfast champion of Spokane’s community colleges, helping to build partnerships with area businesses and advocating for CCS among state and federal leaders.
“I am so pleased our Governor selected Todd and so grateful that he accepted this important role of governing the community colleges,” said CCS Chancellor Christine Johnson. “He is a talented business and community leader who truly believes in the mission of the Community Colleges of Spokane.”
As past Foundation president, Woodard often spoke to potential donors about the importance of community colleges providing opportunities for individuals to improve their lives and noted that the local economy relies upon an educated workforce.
“I am humbled and excited at this opportunity and appreciate Governor Inslee’s trust and confidence in my appointment,” Woodard said. “Our region has critical workforce needs and I look forward working with the Trustees and CCS in developing an educated and trained workforce.”
Woodard has served in his leadership role at the Spokane International Airport since 1995. In that role, he has been responsible for the marketing of cargo and passenger service, domestic and international aerospace business recruitment, and supporting the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Region’s business organizations and hospitality industry. He is an established leader in the airport and aerospace industry and is known for bringing together business and education leaders to establish partnerships that create opportunities and strengthen our economy.
Woodard has a legacy of community service including leadership volunteer roles on the boards of Visit Spokane, Leadership Spokane, Spokane Rotary North and the Northwest Chapter of American Association of Airport Executives. He is a Fellow in the Royal Aeronautical Society and a graduate of Washington State University.
CCS provides education and services in a six-county region of Eastern Washington, operates Spokane Falls Community College and Spokane Community College as well as being the largest provider of Head Start and Early Childhood Education in the region. Each year, nearly 30,000 people, from infants to senior citizens, are provided educational services by CCS.
