Community Colleges of Spokane Selects New Women’s Basketball Coach

Community Colleges of Spokane has selected Brittany Kennedy, a coach at Lewis and Clark High School and long-time Spokane resident, to be the new head coach for the women’s basketball team.

Kennedy, who has coached for Lewis and Clark as head junior varsity/varsity assistant coach since November, 2018, has an extensive professional basketball career, having played in Germany and Finland from 2013 to 2015.

The Lewis and Clark High School alumna said she’s excited to continue the success she’s seen from the athletic department, and to help women athletes reach their athletic, academic and life goals.

“I’m looking forward to bringing in local talent, especially being a Spokane native it’ll be great to still be in the community where many people love the game of basketball like me,” she said. “I wouldn’t be in this position without the support of my family, friends, coaching colleagues and Jim Redmon (former HS coach), this will be an amazing journey”

Before playing basketball professionally, Kennedy graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida in 2013. She attended Oregon State University from 2008 to 2010.

Kennedy replaces Jessica Kramer, who took over as head coach in November 2020.

“I am excited to welcome Brittany Kennedy to the CCS family,” said Athletic Director Jim Fitzgerald. “She is ready to lead our women’s basketball program. Her experience as a former college and professional basketball player and her passion for student success both on the court and in the classroom will benefit all our CCS student athletes."
