The opioid crisis is the focus of a speech and panel discussion with philanthropist and music industry professional Kevin Lyman at Spokane Community College Wednesday morning, Feb. 20.
Sponsored by SCC's Peace Institute and its Student Awareness League, Lyman will moderate a panel discussion at 8:30 a.m. titled, "How I Became an Addict; How I Survived!' during which two people will share their journey.
Following the panel, Lyman, who is now a music professor at the University of Southern California, will talk at 9:30 a.m. on the topic, "Someone Knew -- Why I Needed To Do Something!" Both events are in the SCC Lair.
Lyman has for years been leading a community-based education and prevention program about the opioid crisis. Lyman is best known as the creator of the Vans Warped Tour music tours which ended last year after 24 years.
