SFCC’s Chrissy Davis Jones wins NASPA Community College Professional of the Year Award

Spokane Falls Community College’s Acting Vice President of Student Services Chrissy Davis Jones has been named NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) Community College Professional of the Year.

The award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated continued leadership and a commitment to NASPA and/or the profession in relation to community colleges.

Prior to her current position as acting vice president, Davis Jones served as the SFCC dean of students for seven years. She has nearly 20 years of experience working at various community and technical colleges with 16 of those years focused on developing, restructuring and implementing successful student services-related programs with an expertise in academic advisement systems.

“This is wonderful recognition for Dr. Davis Jones,” said SFCC Acting President Darren Pitcher. “SFCC is fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented leader in student services.”

Davis Jones also serves as faculty for the National Academic Advising Association’s (NACADA) online eTutorial classes through Kansas State University. When she is not in the traditional classroom, she is facilitating workshops, conducting presentations and/or spending time researching and writing that includes serving as reviewer/Editorial Board member for NASPA’s Journal About Women in Higher Education. She earned her doctorate in education (EdD) at the University of North Texas.

She will be recognized at the 2018 NASPA Annual Conference in Philadelphia on March 5. NASPA is the leading association for the advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs profession. It provides professional development, advocacy and research for 15,000 members in all 50 states, 25 countries and 8 U.S. territories.
