Kevin Brockbank Selected as Next SCC President

Community Colleges of Spokane Chancellor Christine Johnson announced today she selected Kevin Brockbank to serve as the next president for Spokane Community College. He has been serving as acting president of SCC since July.

“During the past 10 months, Dr. Brockbank has demonstrated strong and collaborative leadership throughout the college,” Johnson said. “I know he will work with the faculty and staff to ensure SCC continues to provide outstanding educational opportunities that are responsive to the regional economy and prepare students for bright futures for the next education level and employment.”

Brockbank and his family moved to Spokane in 2015 when he was hired by CCS to serve as the vice provost for strategic partnerships. During his two years in that role, he led the successful effort to expand enrollment of international students, coordinated educational tours for foreign emerging leaders and developed partnerships in the business and educational communities.

“I am honored to be a part of the SCC team and part of an institution that is so impactful to the people and economy of this region,” Brockbank said. “My vision is that SCC be recognized as the best comprehensive community college in the state.”

Prior to moving to Spokane, Brockbank was the dean of the school of applied technologies and professional development at Salt Lake Community College in Utah. He also had leadership roles at Missoula College and Helena College, both part of the University of Montana. He has a doctorate in educational leadership through the University of Montana.

SCC is one of the largest community colleges in the state serving more than 20,000 students every year at its 150-acres campus in east Spokane and its centers in Colville, Inchelium, Ione, Newport and Republic. In addition to career/technical programs and liberal arts transfer degrees, SCC also provides adult basic education and English-as-a-second-language educational programs.
